I met the former King in Bucharest in 2002 when I was Australian Consul General there and have been fascinated with his life story since I first read about him.
I found him incredibly sad but maybe he has a lot to be sad about. He did say that he remembered the Australian Air Force pilots who died over Romania while assisting the Allies war efforts/

It has been a number of years but you may recall me from you trip to Palm Springs when we left to see President Reagan at his office with Teddy, it was a good time and I will always recall it. All my best to you and many happy returns.
