Crowds lined the streets of central London, many singing “God Save The Queen” as The Queen arrived at St Paul’s Cathedral for a service of thanksgiving.

The Queen emerged on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to a deafening roar from tens of thousands of her loyal subjects who gathered below in euphoric mood for the final and most historic moment of the Diamond Jubilee.
The enthusiasm on the crowds, again undaunted by the rain, can be in no small part attributed to the young royals who have done so much to help a new generation fall in love with Britain’s monarchy. (Source: Daily Mail)

I believe the masses of people were there to show their support for Queen Elizabeth II and to help celebrate her 60 years on the British Throne. The younger generation has their place but the last four days were about the Queen period! The Queen is a beloved figure in her country in particular, and the Commonwealth in general. We don’t know what will transpire when she makes her transition. As popular as the younger royals may be, they did not generate all the enthusiasm that I saw among the people from Sunday-Tuesday. We must remember that Queen Elizabeth represent continuity, we do not know what the future will bring. So, we need to savor those moments from the Diamond Jubilee which are now part of our recent past because we will not see another Diamond Jubilee during our lifetimes. God save the Queen!
