A Romanian auction house is scheduling a sale of the driving licence of Queen Marie, issued in the period when she was still a Crown Princess of Romania. The document was issued by The Touring Club of Munich, presumably for the use during her frequent visits of her mother, the Duchess of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. The young princess’ car make, mentioned on the papers, was a Mercedes 35h, no. of fabrication 5060, the series of the car engine being 7798. This is a fascinating item to be auctioned next week. I will keep you informed about the final result. The estimated price is € 2.000 – 4.000. The price is unrealistic in my opinion, typical of the local inexperienced antiques market.
