Carol of Romania and Helen of Greece
10 March 1921, Athens. Carol, the Crown Prince of Romania married Helen Princess of Greece. This is the second union of members of the Greek and Romanian dynasties after the marriage of the Duke of Sparta and Princess Elisabeta of Romania on 27 February 1921.
The civil ceremony took place at the Palace in the Greek capital and was followed by an elaborate wedding at the Cathedral. Carol and his bride rode in a golden carriage that led the procession to the Cathedral, proceeding through the principal thoroughfares of Athens. Queen Marie of Romania and Queen Sophie of Greece occupied a second carriage and next in the procession came King Constantine, Prince George and other members of the two royal families. Helen wore a white satin gown trimmed with gold. The bride wore also a diamond Greek key diadem, a gift from the Romanian Royal family.
