Princess Madeleine is the youngest of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia’s three children and fourth in line to the throne. She has studied child psychology, art history, ethnology and history at university and is known for her stylish clothes and glamorous lifestyle. She now lives in New York where she works for the non-profit World Childhood Foundation, founded by her mother.

Christopher O’Neill will not hold a title as he has elected to remain a private citizen and not be granted royal rank. He was born in London when his American investment banker father came to work in the capital and has dual British-American citizenship.

The wedding celebrations began last night with a private dinner at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm hosted by the king and queen.
