HRH Prince Radu of Romania announced today that he is leaving the race for presidential elections, due to take place on November 22. He stated in his presidential election Manifesto launched on 9 April that: “I am not a candidate from the left nor from the right. I am not a political candidate.” For a presidential candidature to produce palpable results it seems that one would have needed also an equally strong political support apart from non-political one. In the interviewing months since April 2009, the reality on the ground indicates that the economic crisis fatally diminished the support from the initial backers like politicians and moneyed groups or other individuals, organisations who have now re-oriented to other candidates put forward by the main political parties.
